Couple and Their Two Young Children among 9 Killed in Jet Crash — Co-Pilot’s Text to Boyfriend 10 Minutes Earlier Revealed

A Dream Birthday Vacation Turned Into a Nightmare

The family was traveling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas to celebrate Adam’s birthday. What was supposed to be a week of relaxation, family memories, and beautiful experiences became a tragedy that their loved ones will never forget.

Adam Robinson was a technology entrepreneur, while his wife, Helen Sharp, worked in public relations and had also developed a passion for ceramics. Their children, Emma, 4, and Charlie, 2, were reportedly the center of their world.

Family friends Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr were also aboard the aircraft, along with Anita Maria Cetina, who helped care for the children and was described by the family as someone who had become part of their household.

The aircraft was a Learjet 60 business jet. Its destination was North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas.

There were seven passengers and two pilots aboard.

None survived.

According to the families’ joint statement, Adam and Helen were devoted parents whose warmth and generosity touched many lives. Their children were described as the light of their lives.

The statement also remembered Rachael and Charmi for their adventurous spirits and Anita for the tenderness and devotion she showed the children.

For the relatives, the loss was almost impossible to comprehend.

The Young Co-Pilot Who Followed Her Dream

Another heartbreaking part of the tragedy involves 20-year-old co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras.

Nathalia was not simply someone who had recently discovered an interest in aviation. Flying had been her dream since childhood.

According to accounts from her family, her passion began when she accompanied her father on flights in his small aircraft.

She quickly became fascinated by aviation and told her family that she wanted to become a pilot.

She worked toward that goal with remarkable determination.

In 2023, while still a high school student, Nathalia earned her private pilot’s license at just 17 years old. Her achievement attracted attention because she had become qualified to fly before obtaining her driver’s license.

Her training continued, and she eventually worked as a flight instructor before moving into commercial aviation.

By the time of the November 2026 tragedy, her stepfather said she had accumulated approximately 1,300 flight hours.

Her family remembered a young woman who loved flying and was determined to build a career in aviation.

She was approaching her 21st birthday in January.

For her mother, the loss was especially painful because she had watched her daughter pursue the very dream that ultimately brought her into the cockpit of the doomed aircraft.

The Text Message That Is Breaking Hearts

Perhaps one of the most emotional details to emerge concerns a message Nathalia reportedly sent to her boyfriend, Justin, shortly before the crash.

According to her stepfather, she sent the message approximately 10 minutes before the aircraft went down.

The reported words were brief:

“I’ve got turbulence, I’ve got ice.”

Those words have attracted considerable attention because they describe the difficult conditions the aircraft was encountering.

It is important to distinguish this reported private text from the official air traffic control recordings. The message was described by her family, while investigators separately documented the crew’s communications with air traffic control.

Nevertheless, the detail has added another heartbreaking dimension to the tragedy.

Imagine receiving a message from someone you love, knowing that they are experiencing difficult conditions in the air, and then learning that the aircraft they were operating has crashed.

For Nathalia’s boyfriend and family, those final communications are likely to remain deeply painful memories.

Her mother also shared an emotional reflection about her daughter’s passion for aviation.

She explained that she had wanted Nathalia to pursue her dream, even though she understood the risks involved in flying.

Her words revealed the complicated emotions of a parent who was proud of her daughter’s achievements but is now facing an unimaginable loss.

What Happened During the Final Minutes?

The Learjet crashed near Greenacres in Palm Beach County, Florida, on November 1, 2026.

The aircraft had departed from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and was heading toward the Bahamas.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board’s preliminary account, the crew reported moderate turbulence, ice, and precipitation while flying at approximately 35,000 feet.

The pilots communicated with air traffic control as conditions developed.

At one point, the crew requested a climb.

But the situation deteriorated rapidly.

The aircraft began losing altitude at an alarming rate, and the crew declared an emergency.

The recordings included a mayday call and reports of a rapidly increasing descent.

Air traffic controllers attempted to communicate with the pilots and determine what assistance they needed.

Unfortunately, the aircraft continued downward.

At approximately 12:50 p.m. local time, it crashed near Military Trail in Palm Beach County.

The impact produced a massive explosion and scattered debris across the area.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but all nine people aboard had died.

One person on the ground was also reported injured.

Investigators Discover Important Evidence

In the days following the crash, investigators began examining the aircraft wreckage, flight information, weather conditions, maintenance records, and communications.

One particularly significant discovery came on November 3.

Investigators reported finding pieces of the aircraft’s left elevator, a component of the tail that helps control the airplane’s pitch.

Some pieces were recovered as far as approximately 3.8 miles from the crash site.

This suggested that at least part of the aircraft may have separated before impact.

However, investigators cautioned that they did not yet know whether the separation caused the aircraft to lose control or happened as a result of the forces during the descent.

The distinction is extremely important.

Aviation accidents often involve several contributing factors, and investigators must carefully reconstruct the sequence of events before reaching conclusions.

Weather conditions, possible structural damage, aircraft performance, and the crew’s actions are all being examined.

The NTSB has not established a final cause.

Nine Lives, Countless Memories

Behind the technical investigation are nine individual lives and families who have been devastated.

Adam and Helen were building a life together and raising two young children.

Rachael and Charmi shared a relationship and a love of adventure.

Anita had become an important part of the family’s daily life through her care for Emma and Charlie.

Captain Jeff Gregory and co-pilot Nathalia were responsible for operating the aircraft.

Each person aboard had family members, friends, dreams, and plans for the future.

The tragedy has also affected the surrounding Palm Beach County community. Approximately 600 residents of a nearby mobile home community were displaced as authorities dealt with the crash site and its aftermath.

The families have expressed gratitude to first responders, investigators, and community members who offered support.

They have also requested privacy as they begin the difficult process of grieving.

A Tragedy That Leaves Many Questions

As the investigation continues, the central question remains: what caused the Learjet to lose control?

Was severe weather responsible? Did ice accumulation affect the aircraft? Did a structural problem develop during the flight? Or did several factors combine to create an emergency the crew could not overcome?

Those questions require answers based on evidence, not speculation.

The reported message from Nathalia, the emergency radio communications, and the discovery of separated aircraft components are all important parts of the developing investigation.

But none alone establishes the cause.

The final investigation could take many months.

For the families, however, the most important thing is remembering the people they lost.

A birthday vacation that should have created beautiful memories instead became a day of unimaginable heartbreak.

Nine people boarded that aircraft with hopes, plans, and loved ones waiting for them.

They never reached their destination.

May all nine victims rest in peace. Our thoughts are with their families, friends, and everyone affected by this devastating tragedy.
